Linecross Welcomes SMMT and International Delegation to Cannock Facility

Linecross recently welcomed representatives from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), alongside a delegation of Ghanaian business leaders, to its Cannock manufacturing facility.

The visit formed part of the Ghanaian Jobs and Economic Transformation (JET) Programme, an initiative focused on supporting industrial growth, skills development and international collaboration.

Bringing together industry bodies and global partners created an opportunity to explore how manufacturing expertise, operational excellence and shared knowledge can support both established and emerging markets.

As the UK automotive sector continues to evolve, from material innovation through to increasing pressure on supply chain resilience, engagement with organisations and professional bodies like the SMMT plays an important role in shaping the future of the industry.

During the visit, the Linecross team shared insight into how its approach supports OEMs and Tier automotive suppliers in delivering consistent, high-quality outcomes at scale.

This included a focus on structured workplace organisation, the role of robust quality management systems, and the importance of standardised work in enabling Lean and Just in Time manufacturing environments.

These are not just internal processes, but critical factors that underpin reliability, efficiency and long-term performance across complex supply chains.

The visit also provided a valuable forum for open discussion around the challenges and opportunities facing UK manufacturing today, from evolving customer expectations to the need for greater flexibility and resilience across production operations.

For Linecross, these conversations are an important part of staying closely aligned with industry priorities while continuing to support customers with the capability, insight and scale required to deliver.
